In our search for France’s hidden gems, we went straight for wines that are aromatic, lush, and effortlessly food-friendly—the kind that make dinner feel like a small holiday. That led us to Chenin Blanc, and our mission to find the most convincing expressions from France’s five benchmark Chenin regions. Vouvray is one of them—and this bottle shows exactly why.
Tasting Notes
Luscious and bright, Château Moncontour Vouvray Demi-Sec “La Belle Angerie” 2024 delivers the classic demi-sec magic: a gentle sweetness wrapped in zesty aromatics and a beautifully clean line of acidity. Expect notes of honeyed orchard fruit, green apple, and a soft floral lift, finishing fresh and moreish. It’s the kind of off-dry white that feels like sunshine—yet never cloying.
Vouvray is also one of the Loire’s most age-worthy styles: the balance of sweetness and acidity means this wine can evolve gracefully in bottle, gaining deeper honeyed, spicy complexity over time.
