Domaine Meix Foulot Mercurey Rouge 2019
Agnès Dewé de Launay took over this 20-hectare estate in Mercurey from her father Paul. She seeks to bring out the personality of the terroir in each of her cuvées, through work in the vines (plowing and a sustainable approach to the use of organic treatments), the choice of barrels, and bottling, while preserving the purity of the aromas and the delicacy of the tannins expressed in the wines through minimal intervention vinification.
Mercurey wine evokes strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. Age brings in notes of underbrush, spicy tobacco notes and cocoa beans. The wine is rich, full-bodied, and chewy on the palate. In their youth, the tannins have a mineral firmness that evolves to a rounder texture upon ageing.
