2021 Chateau Coudray-Montpensier Chinon Rouge
Why we love it
Loire Valley is the home of 24 iconic grape varieties, and Cabernet Franc is among them.
Crafted to be consumed young, this Chinon red (100% Cabernet Franc) wine has a robust aroma of blackcurrents, black fruit, hints of dry leaves and vanilla, fine tannins, and a touch of Asian spices at the end palate.
I really enjoy its refreshing acidity. Serving it slightly chilled or at an air-conditioned temperature (20 -22 degrees roughly) brings out different palate textures and aroma intensity.
The winemaker loves pairing it with white meat, even cheddar and gouda cheese. I say it is perfect with the signature Cantonese stirred-fry dishes.
