Domaine Benoit Cantin Ratafia d'Irancy
WHY WE LOVE IT
I was introduced to ratafia during one of my first trips to Champagne. It is often referred to as one of the oldest types of French aperitif. New York Times even name it - "The Champagne of Aperitif."
It is made from Grandpa Roger's secret recipe - blending Gamay grape juice with brandy (from the distillation of grape marc!) from the Northern Burgundy region. The eau de vie has aged in wooden casks to soften the mix for one year before it is bottled.
Beautiful in colour. Amazingly aromatic. Perfect for serving together with cold cuts or even for cooking to boost up the aroma complexity.
