Domaine de Fa Beaujolais en Besset 2019
World-renowned Crozes Hermitage producer, Alain Graillot and sons Maxime & Antoine looked north to Beaujolais for a new winemaking venture, acquiring Domaine de Fa in 2013, with their first vintage appearing the following year. The family had a long-term home in the area so making wine in the region was a natural progression.
‘En Besset’ is a 5ha plot on granitic hillsides, one of the highest elevation vineyards of the Beaujolais appellation close to Saint-Amour and Julienas, producing concentrated intense wines.
Tasting Notes:
Beautiful vivid ruby, ripe red and dark berry in color, scents are complicated by subtle mineral, smoked meat and floral notes. Supple, broad and appealingly sweet, offering juicy blackberry and floral pastille flavors and a hint of gaminess. Closes long and spicy, with even tannins that build slowly and add final grip.
