Tasting Notes
A serious, characterful Pinot Noir from one of Mercurey’s most respected estates. The 2021 Meix Foulot 1er Cru opens with raw meat, blackberry, and allspice on the nose. On the palate, velvety tannins, a compact medium body, and a long, firm, mineral finish. Savory, structured, and built for the cellar — best from 2025 onwards.

About the Producer
Domaine Meix Foulot is one of Mercurey’s most celebrated estates, farming some of the appellation’s finest 1er Cru parcels in the Côte Chalonnaise. Known for producing structured, terroir-driven Pinot Noir of real depth and longevity, Meix Foulot is a benchmark for Mercurey — serious Burgundy at a fraction of Côte de Nuits prices.
Food Pairing
This savory, structured Mercurey loves bold, earthy dishes. Try it with roasted duck with cherry jus, soy-braised beef short ribs, Cantonese roast pigeon, or a classic boeuf bourguignon. The firm tannins and mineral finish make it stunning with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 15–17°C.
They Love It Too!
James Suckling (2023 vintage) — “The interplay of serious, velvety tannins and complex raw meat, blackberry and allspice flavors gives this wine a lot of character and structure for the appellation. Compact, medium-bodied palate and a long, firm finish, suggesting that this has a good future ahead of it.”
