Tasting Notes
A deep, expressive Syrah from the legendary Northern Rhône. The 2020 Sainte-Agathe opens with a profound nose of dark red fruits — blackberry, black cherry — layered with violet, black pepper, and smoky spice. On the palate, the attack is frank and generous, with ample fruit, a saline freshness, and a beautifully spiced, peppery backbone that is the hallmark of this old-vine cuvée. Elegant tannins and a long, mineral finish. Drink now or cellar up to 5 years.

About the Producer
Domaine Georges Vernay is one of the most iconic estates in the Northern Rhône, celebrated as the saviour of Condrieu — the legendary appellation for Viognier. Now led by Christine Vernay, the domaine farms steep, terraced granite slopes with meticulous care, producing wines of extraordinary precision and terroir expression. The Sainte-Agathe cuvée is sourced from 40-year-old Syrah vines planted within the Condrieu appellation zone, farmed organically and harvested by hand in 20kg crates.
Food Pairing
This spicy, peppery Syrah is a dream with bold, savoury dishes. Try it with Cantonese roast duck, soy-braised short ribs, grilled lamb chops with rosemary, or a slow-cooked Sichuan beef stew. The peppery backbone and saline freshness make it a stunning match for charcuterie and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C.
